Thank you for this video. Has anyone recently tested the spring for E coli and other contaminations? Are there any tips for first time water collectors like myself? Also someone said that there is a zoo nearby, and they were trying to put up a waste plant or something nearby? Lastly, someone reported a strong sulphur smell, is this bad to drink? Feel free to share ideas in the comments below so we can all educate ourselves on how to collect this kind of water properly. Thanks!

Nice property.

Those are not what I would call a cottage. Those are very large homes and probably winterized as well. My family had a cottage at the north end of Lake Couchiching, on the eastern shore. I was the third generation to use the cottage and was born in 1934. I stayed with grandparents every summer until my twenties. When it was built, my ancestors had to barge building materials from Orillia because there were no roads. They docked at the government wharf near Washago. Cottages were simple frame structures that were opened on May 24th weekend and closed Labour Day. Water was pumped from the lake by a hand pump in the kitchen and our frig was an icebox. When I was a child there were very few motor boats on the lake. Just canoes and rowboats. Washago was a major lumber and railway town during those times. Every cottage had an ice shed for the icebox. Ice blocks were cut on the lake during winter and delivered right after May 24th weekend. The ice was covered in sawdust from the Washago saw mill which kept them frozen all summer. We got electricity in 1946. Heat was from a wood stove in the kitchen. Those times were the best years of my life and I'll always cherish them. in 2021, all those cottages have been torn down and huge "summer" homes erected along with massive powerboats and huge docks. Not the same anymore. Sad.

Unfortunately you cut all the trees down on the hillside and ruined the view for every boater and cottager on the other side of the lake.... clear cutting and now they get to look at a stark white wall..... just what Muskoka needs... maybe a new video of what the property looks like now
